One of the largest amphitheaters in the Roman world was capable of accommodating more than 25,000 people, exaggerated size if we consider that the city never became the 8,000 inhabitants. In plant its major axis is 154 m. and the lowest 130 m. It was built under Emperor Hadrian. Is situated outside the walls of the nova urbs, in a valley that used to accommodate their stands.
The sand is 71 m in major axis and minor axis 49. At the heart of it lies the fossa bestiaria square and with 8 pillars supporting the roof where it served to hide the pit, covering it with sand. The entrance to the fossa ramps bestiaria through a long vaulted corridor that ran through all the sand in its axis.
The structure of the building is Opus caementicium-concrete-coated blocks of stone or brick in the area. Moreover, in most important areas covered marble.
