The immediate future is leading us inexorably to a knowledge economy. Is the new way of working that humanity is created. Northern countries already using it, which makes the gap between them and the developing countries from widening more and more. What is this new way of working that creates added value that all the above? What is the knowledge economy that generates new leaders, millionaires, new workers, and a new picture of life?
During its 200 thousand years of existence, mankind has created different ways of working. Thus, at its inception, social groups are served only their hands to buy food goods allows survive. His way of working is defined by the gathering, hunting and fishing. Hence, the life table is the forest, the banks of rivers, lakes or sea. There is little we can do to change it. Later invent, create or innovate tools like spear, arrow, bow, hammer, etc. This new way of working with tools enabling them to increase their basket of food but mostly unchanged its picture of life.
The discovery of the arable land is a milestone because it not only ensures a basket of food rich in quantity and variety but substantially modified life table. Man collector, hunter or fisherman becomes farmer who built his house next to his farm. It is no longer nomadic. Leave behind the forest to invade the Earth's arable land but only in places accessible to water. It is a new employee into a new life table. This new way of working completely changed the way of thinking and acting not only workers but also all members of society. This is the strength of any new work process.
But humanity does not stop its advance. Created another way of working much more powerful than its predecessors. In the center of this new process is working the machine, no longer managed by a farmer but by a worker. The factory defines the characteristics of new employees, and creates a new picture of life. It is no longer a village in the middle of farmland in a primitive, but large cities that depend on trade, industry, production for unknown consumers. It is a mass production for a consumer economy. And the worker is a thousand miles of the farmer, as regards education, comfort and sociability.
However, humanity is creating another incredible way to work from every point of view. It is a work process that creates only intangibles. And what moves the bulk of the economy and society and is neither arable land nor the machine installed in a factory. Are the knowledge and skills to interact with knowledge so far attained by mankind, to create new knowledge. The whole process of work is immaterial, and the entire run of "production line" is based on knowledge. This is the new way of working that is transforming the economy, society and our picture of life. The worker is not peasants or workers. It is a conceptor. Its mission is to research and application of their discoveries, inventions, creations or innovations. The new employee is a scientist, either in the development of new intangible assets or in its marketing.
Northern countries have entered this new world. The development of the knowledge economy and has allowed them to create their own Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq, its own icons like Bill Gates, and the majors of intangible assets. And this requires that the training is geared more and more toward science and technology. But here, in Peru, taking pride in ignorance, it was decided that education is given to part-time: five hours per day, five days a week and four-month vacation for students. And in rural areas or urban outside the capital, where the socio-economic and cultural development is most regrettable, this part-time education is much lower still. Go sad reality of a Third World country, whose leaders boast of growth and construction.
This situation can not continue. We must return to reason and common sense. The immediate future calls for high levels of knowledge in science and technology, and the short term. Doctorates in these disciplines and not obtained, not 30 years or 20 years. The new knowledge economy requires high-quality preparation, and earlier. Students and repeaters are not memorable or stories. They are being trained to immediate reactivity, with plenty of initiative, independence and leadership. They are willing to take risks early, and win new battles in science and technology.
Times are changing rapidly. Do not lose the car again in history. Lancémonos strongly and the knowledge economy. And for that, we begin to implement a full-time education, and more than that, but essentially oriented to science and technology.
